Halloween is know for crazy costumes, ghoulish goodies, and weeks of leftover candy from your child’s trick-or-treat bag or your bowl of candy to pass out to the neighborhood kids. With all these sweet treats, its hard not to cave in to the sugary temptation of one too many fun-sized candy bars. Here are some delicious healthy alternatives to satisfy your sweet tooth without tacking on extra pounds.

  • Heart-Healthy Dark Chocolate Apples: simply dip apple slices into melted dark chocolate baking chips and place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper to cool. Not only is this deliciously chocolaty, but both the ingredients are packed with antioxidants to fight heart disease!
  • Pumpkin Cupcakes: Whip up your favorite healthy muffin recipe and top it with a healthier version of cream cheese frosting! Simply combine 12 ounces of Neufchâtel cream cheese, half a cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of low-fat Greek yogurt, and a half teaspoon of vanilla extract in an electric mixer.
  • Light Caramel Popcorn: Perfect for dividing in baggies and bringing to work, this caramel popcorn won’t add up in calories or between your teeth. You can purchase Crunch n Munch Caramel Popcorn at the store or make your own at home.
  • Healthier Candy Options: If you simply can’t resist dipping into the candy jar, opt for healthier options such as Twizzlers, Peanut M&Ms, Raisinets, Hershey’s Dark Chocolate, or mini Reese’s Cups. Be sure to watch your serving sizes!
