New year, new you! Kick off 2023 with some of these changes to your health and wellness habits to have a happier and healthier new year.
Habits
Here are some ways you can develop better habits and routines in order to work on your wellness in the upcoming year.
Set goals that are ACHIEVABLE. Start small before you take on larger goals. Take each goal one at a time until they all begin to work together as a daily routine.
Keep up with your PROGRESS. Journal or write down things that you are working on.
Find a GOAL BUDDY. Whether it's working out or parenting, find someone who will be in it with you. It is easier to stay motivated when there is someone holding you accountable.
Avoid consuming an excess amount of processed foods or packaged junk foods.
Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, fibrous foods, lean meats and fish.
Eating Right
Remember to take some ME time. Focus on yourself and prioritize your mental and physical health
by taking time for yourself even on busy days.
Make SLEEP a priority. Sleep is essential to your health so make sure you are taking adequate time to rest.
CENTER yourself. Try to start taking some time each day to check in with yourself. This could be meditating, journaling, or anything that helps you connect with yourself.
Heart disease is one of the most prevalent health issues among older men, and regular exercise is one way to help prevent it.
Exercising
Following the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, adult males should get at least 150 minutes of moderate-level aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise each week.
Mental Health
Stay ACTIVE. Whether it's fitness classes or going on walks, find even just small ways to move every single day. Keeping your body active has many positive impacts on your health.
Eat CLEANER. Try to limit guilty pleasure foods or fast food to only certain days per week. Keep extra sugary foods or foods high in fat for a treat to avoid these becoming bad habits.
