Getting Tested
You should begin getting regularly tested for breast cancer starting at age 50 (possibly ages 40-49 if you have a family history). Breast cancer screening is most commonly done through mammograms. This is an X-ray of the breast that looks for any abnormalities. Click "NEXT" to see some other ways to get tested for breast cancer.

Other Testing Methods
Some other breast cancer screening methods include:

- A breast MRI that uses magnets and radio waves to take pictures of the breast
- A clinical breast exam in which a doctor uses touch to feel around the breast for lumps or any changes
- A self-exam may be perfomed for those at low risk by simply keeping an eye out for any changes in the breast or surrounding area that may need a doctor's attention

Screening is very important because when it comes to cancer the earlier it is found, the easier it is to treat.

Treatment Methods
Some breast cancer treatment methods include:

- Surgery: A mastectomy is a surgery in which the whole breast and breast tissue surrounding the area are removed to remove the cancerous cells from the body
- Radiation: treatment that involves high-energy rays that destroy cancerous cells in the body
- Chemotherapy: use of anti-cancer drugs injected into your body to help your body fight the cancer
- Hormone therapy: this method works by blocking estrogen and progesterone from attaching to cancerous cells which helps keep the cancer from spreading
