The American Diabetes Association is hosting a series of fundraising cycling events nationwide to spread awareness and raise money to help fight against diabetes. Diabetes is a long-term condition that causes high blood sugar levels and it is estimated that over 382 million people throughout the world have diabetes. Overweight and obese people have a much higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared to those with a healthy body weight and the risk of developing this type of diabetes is also greater as we age. However, there are ways to control and prevent diabetes and that is where this event comes in. The Tour de Cure is a full day of fun and excitement where riders can contribute funds towards research, education and advocacy in support of the American Diabetes Association in the fight to stop diabetes. There are several different route lengths to choose from as well as a family ride alternative. Visit the race website HERE for race information, fundraising, and registration.
