The modern diet nowadays consists of refined food, trans fat and sugar which over time result in negative health outcomes and diseases. In contrast the paleo diet focuses on consuming foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean meats, seafood, nuts, seeds and healthy fats. In general, the paleo diet is a based on the types of foods presumed to have been eaten by early humans. Therefore many of the foods typically consumed today are avoided by those on the paleo diet. Dairy, grains, processed food & sugars, legumes, starches and alcohol are all excluded along with similar foods. The idea is a simple shift in our meals that can in turn provide many health benefits, such as balanced energy and reduced allergies, allowing our bodies to be healthier day to day. Studies have shown indication a paleo diet can reduce signs and symptoms of type II diabetes, lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and reduce pain from autoimmunity. At first a diet change can be difficult but with time and patience it can become enjoyable.
