Trade Your Junk Food

It’s no surprise junk food isn’t the best thing we can put into our bodies, but sometimes it is easier to pick up on the go and sounds so tempting. There is a way you can adjust your junk food cravings and make it relatively healthier. Try grabbing these snacks before you reach for that candy bar or bag of greasy potato chips and your waistline and blood pressure will thank you.
Chips: Instead of flavored chips or brands with MSG like kettle chips, reach for plain chips or bean chips. Bean chips are similar to tortilla chips but are made of high fiber beans and whole grain rice.
Chocolate: Instead of your average chocolate bar, try chocolate covered almonds such as Emerald Cocoa Roast Almonds. If you are allergic to nuts try Cacao Nibs which low in sugar.
Snack Cakes: Instead of snack cakes try the 100-calorie brownies or blondies which provide fiber and protein. While they are not exactly a snack cake, try fruit bars with real fruit puree.
Cookies: Instead of grabbing wrapped cookies, pick up some graham crackers and top with peanut butter for a healthy snack that will satisfy both salty and sweet.
Frozen Treats: Instead of grabbing a pint of ice cream, try frozen Greek yogurt bars and make sure they are individual bars for portion control.
Gummy Snacks: Try to avoid these altogether because they are pure sugar, but if you must have them make sure they are all natural.
