Winter can be the most difficult season for keeping up with your workout routine. From the cold weather to the endless holiday parties filled with food, we tend to opt for a more sedentary lifestyle. However, there’s no need to lose your fitness progress this winter. Check out these tips on staying active through this cold season:

  1. Try a Winter Activity: Hit the slopes and try out downhill or cross country skiing. Check out your local ice skating rinks for a great family friendly activity.
  2. Grab Some New Gear: The holiday season is a great time to find deals on winter fitness gear. Proper apparel to face the cold can make your workout much more bearable.
  3. Mix It In: The holiday season is busy, so don’t worry about setting aside long periods of time for workouts. Try to incorporate fitness into your everyday activities, such as briskly walking while holiday shopping.
  4. Set Goals: Think about adding a fitness goal to your New Year’s resolutions, and make it a little easier on yourself by starting now!
  5. Find a Friend: Training with a friend can increase accountability and motivation. Make a commitment to workout with a friend or personal trainer and stick it out.
  6. Try Some New Tunes: Use a winter workout playlist from Spotify or Pandora to pump up your workout. Aim for songs with 120 to 140 beats per minute.
