The weather is getting colder, the days are shorted and it is difficult to stay motivated with a fitness routine. Don’t wait until the New Year to start though, instead stay motivated through the holidays. Holidays will affect your routine, however it is how you adjust that matters. Use this time to your advantage by trying new things such as a new exercise machine, switch up your program, do your cardio on different days, or try something new like biking or spinning. The key is staying flexible through your schedule. Get up earlier or use your lunch break to get some physical activity in for the day. You can also workout at home. In fact, there are thousands of at home workouts online to choose from. Work out with a friend too for extra motivation and reward yourself with something once you have reached your goals. If you are typically someone who starts a fitness routine and then quickly falls off track, try signing up for a race in the future. By signing up for a 5K, 10K or half-marathon your motivation to train and get ready for the race will help get you through the fitness slump of the holiday season. If you do happen to fall off track though don’t be discouraged, instead get right back on it!
